10th-Annual Friends of SFC Event ~ A Success!

Thank you to everyone who attended our 10th-Annual Friends of St. Francis Center event!

Our event was a success with over 330 guests in attendance and we raised more (50 percent more than last year!) than we ever have to help provide hunger relief and comprehensive services for our homeless and extremely low-income guests thanks to our generous sponsors and donors.

We honored the memory of Allan J. Graf who was involved with SFC as a board member, board chair, and volunteer through the Order of Malta for more than a decade and East West Bank who has been our partner for many years, sponsoring Friends of SFC events in the past, as well as our annual Top Tamale fundraiser.

We celebrated a year of Serving Hope to our guests in need. Last year was a record-breaking year for SFC regarding the amount of food we recovered and the number of guests we served. We rescued 1.3 million pounds of food which allowed us to provide 100,000 homeless meals (twice as many meals as we were serving 7 years ago) and over 30,452 grocery visits (40 percent more visits than last year) to low-income families, individuals and now also students at our on-site pantry services and 5 satellite pantry sites for our food-insecure community. We provided more comprehensive services for guests to get on a long-term path to stability, including case management, emergency shelter, permanent and supportive housing, employment opportunities, utilities and rental assistance. Check out the video from our event, highlighting these accomplishments on Facebook.
