Knights of Columbus Donate $25,000 to St. Francis Center

Last week, the Knights of Columbus visited us to donate and volunteer. In partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Hearts to Serve program, the Knights of Columbus are making a $100,000 gift to six local LA food banks.

We would like to thank the Knights of Columbus for the generous grant we received as part of their pledge to give over $1 million to food pantries throughout the country as part of a new national initiative to provide assistance to communities hard hit by COVID-19. This grant will allow us to provide 70lbs of weekly groceries to an additional 400 families for a full month during these trying times.

Knights of Columbus also volunteered with us for our pantry program, and helped to prepare over 100 grocery bags filled with a variety of fresh produce and dry good staples, meat, and toilet paper. They also made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and prepared lunch bags for us to distribute during our homeless breakfast services. We would like to give a special thank you to Knights of Columbus State Secretary – Steve Bolton and his wife Jane for joining the volunteer crew!

Since the onset of the pandemic, St. Francis Center has experienced a 200 percent increase in the demand for our pantry services, so this grant will help us go a long way in continuing to feed our community in need.
