Help us welcome one of the newest members of our SFC staff, Alicia Moreno!
Alicia, mother of four, and her family live in the low-income neighborhoods surrounding St. Francis Center. Her family emigrated from El Salvador to escape the violence and corruption in her native country during the 12-year civil war.
One day three years ago, she and her husband saw our guests in line for services and reached out for help. She registered with our pantry services and then during the holidays, Alicia and her family also received extra support through St. Julie’s special holiday basket distribution on site at
St. Francis Center. Since then she also has competed in our
TOP TAMALE competition and given back by volunteering.
“My family and I have experienced hunger firsthand. I’m proud to now represent the organization that supported us during the most difficult part of my life when we needed it most and now I want to do the same for others in our community,” said Alicia.
SFC is excited to now welcome Alicia as one of the newest members of the SFC staff as custodian. St. Francis Center’s board and management remain committed to promoting diversity among our staff because we believe that we can provide more effective, inclusive services by having staff who is representative of the community we serve and who come from a range of varied backgrounds.
Through the support she has received through St. Francis Center, Alicia says she is empowered to be a better person for her community and family.
Welcome to the SFC team Alicia!
